Trudie was adopted today. :) :(
We will miss her terribly. She is an absolute sweetheart. A week ago we bought a new toy and and started calling it "Super Chicken" it's a slingshot stuffy that squaks and she decided she loved it and wouldn't let the little dog play with it so we sent it along to her new home. Be good Miss Trudie, we love you.

Awesome
Just a quick update. She is really fabulous, i've been taking her out with me to various places and people are really drawn to her, and she loves the attention she gets. We live in La Vergne and on Saturday it was Old Timer's Day. We went and watched the parade and lots of kids came to pet her, and then we went to the park and she seemed to catch everyone's eye. What would have been about a 15 minute stroll thru the park alone was over an hour because we had to stop and talk to everyone. After dark there were firew0rks which we watched from our deck, my little dog hid in the house but Trudie came out and was watching them with us. She was very intrigued. The little bit of thunder we have heard doesnt seem to bother her either, which is really nice since my last grey was very thunderphobic and would start pacing and whining even before we could hear it

Week 3
This girl can run. With just a little bit of encouragment after the stitches were removed she took off. We took her to Shakespeare in the Park on Saturday night and she was great. People seem to be drawn to her and she loved all the attention. It took a little bit to collapse her (get her to lay down) so the people behind us could see but once she was down she didnt get back up until we did. I am starting to leave her home when i go to work and there have been no issues there either. She is even sort of starting to play with the little dog too. She loves walks and riding in the car. I have a mustang convertible which doesnt have the biggest back seat and the seat are bucket style and not bench but she just jumps right in and lays down, sharing the seat with the little one.

Week 2
The wound is healing and Trudie's personality is starting to blossom as she is feeling better. She has gone from eating slowly with the bowl in front of her lying down to jumping up and watching me fill the bowl. She is starting to get playful with us, but not the little dog yet. She wants to run but not letting her till I get the OK. She is very much a velcro dog outside and when i am at work but not in the house. I guess the house is small enough that she knows I cant get far. :) She's good in the crate, and tolerates but doesn't like the muzzle. We went to the Smyra Meet and Greet and she was excellent with the other dogs and people, and she got to see her grey sister Maggie. She loves attention and scratches and is just a big love sponge. Until she heals I've been taking her to work with me, everytime someone walks by she lifts her leg for a tummy rub. More later.

The first 5 days
I picked up Trudie Monday after work from Dr. Carol. Her pictures don't do her justice. She is a very pretty girl with a little pink heart shaped mark on her snout. Brought her home and let her meet the resident hound, they ran a little bit together. She came in the house and pretty much ignored our bird. All was good until the final potty for the night where she saw a rabbit that i didnt and she took off, the rabbit made it under the chain link fence but Trudie ran right into it and ripped her inner thigh. Back to the vet Tuesday morning for stitches. I've been taking her to work with me everyday so she can get her meds. Everyone at work loves her and she is very well behaved in the office. She seemed right from the beginning to accept my husband and I as her humans for the time being. So far she hasn't played with any of the toys or stuffies but that might be because she is sore, she also doesnt really interact with the other dog, but she loves ear scatches and attention. I don't think she ever got treats, she wont even take a milk bone. If i put it down eventually she'll eat it but she wont take take them from our hands. Hubby and I are working on that, every dog should love getting treats. I keep telling her we are going to spoil her whether she likes it or not :). So far she is a very easy and very easy going hound. I'm looking forward to seeing how she is once the stitches are out and she is feeling better and can run.
