Week 2
The wound is healing and Trudie's personality is starting to blossom as she is feeling better. She has gone from eating slowly with the bowl in front of her lying down to jumping up and watching me fill the bowl. She is starting to get playful with us, but not the little dog yet. She wants to run but not letting her till I get the OK. She is very much a velcro dog outside and when i am at work but not in the house. I guess the house is small enough that she knows I cant get far. :) She's good in the crate, and tolerates but doesn't like the muzzle. We went to the Smyra Meet and Greet and she was excellent with the other dogs and people, and she got to see her grey sister Maggie. She loves attention and scratches and is just a big love sponge. Until she heals I've been taking her to work with me, everytime someone walks by she lifts her leg for a tummy rub. More later.

The first 5 days
I picked up Trudie Monday after work from Dr. Carol. Her pictures don't do her justice. She is a very pretty girl with a little pink heart shaped mark on her snout. Brought her home and let her meet the resident hound, they ran a little bit together. She came in the house and pretty much ignored our bird. All was good until the final potty for the night where she saw a rabbit that i didnt and she took off, the rabbit made it under the chain link fence but Trudie ran right into it and ripped her inner thigh. Back to the vet Tuesday morning for stitches. I've been taking her to work with me everyday so she can get her meds. Everyone at work loves her and she is very well behaved in the office. She seemed right from the beginning to accept my husband and I as her humans for the time being. So far she hasn't played with any of the toys or stuffies but that might be because she is sore, she also doesnt really interact with the other dog, but she loves ear scatches and attention. I don't think she ever got treats, she wont even take a milk bone. If i put it down eventually she'll eat it but she wont take take them from our hands. Hubby and I are working on that, every dog should love getting treats. I keep telling her we are going to spoil her whether she likes it or not :). So far she is a very easy and very easy going hound. I'm looking forward to seeing how she is once the stitches are out and she is feeling better and can run.
